Safer Pilots & Better Leaders

There’s nothing like the three-dimensional freedom of flying. It is exhilarating! It gives you a shot of adrenaline and brings a sense of accomplishment and inner peace. But that peace can be shattered in an instant.  Having the personal awareness and skills to deal with the unexpected is key to your safety and that of your team and passengers should you have them!

Loss of Control in flight (LOC) is the number one risk factor leading to fatalities in General Aviation. At AOA Aviation and Leadership Consulting we believe that the most important ingredient in flying is a safe pilot in the cockpit.  Fate does not take a pilot’s skill or experience into account.  Upsets, startles and emergencies happen to pilots at all levels. A well-trained pilot who has forged the skills and instincts to handle difficult situations is much more apt to react calmly and effectively. As a part 91 Flight School, we focus on the individual trainings you require as a pilot and a leader. We have the flexibility to help you experience and learn the strategies to take your skills to higher altitudes!

Your Instructor

Hello and Welcome to AOA Aviation & Leadership Consulting!

My name is  Loren J. “Skip” Johnson.

As a retired veteran of the USAF, I have had the tremendous privilege of flying some of the most advanced aircraft in the world and leading award-winning units both in the US and in combat zones abroad.

When I retired from the Colorado Air National Guard in 2015, I felt there was still more to do. My love for flying led me to continue my career as a pilot and an instructor for commercial pilots as well as corporate and General Aviation. Flying is challenging both mentally and physically.  It requires intense concentration and self leadership. That’s why I am so passionate about personal growth and the journey, rather than the destination.

As a former fighter pilot, I developed the briefing and debriefing skills to train at the highest level and learn from every flight and activity. I’ve consulted with major organizations about executive leadership as well as team building and performance.  I have the depth of experience and many tools at my disposal to take your personal health, mental and communications skills to the highest level!

Whether you are an experienced pilot or a developing leader, I’d love to share my experience, knowledge, and even the skies with you at AOA Aviation!
